The 2014 Winter Transfer Window Is Closed

A hectic calciomercato period has officially come to a close, after seeing a fair bit of activity for Napoli.

Paolo Bruno

The transfer window has officially closed, and while some deals will still trickle through as official approval is handed out, it looks like Napoli's business is done and dusted. Let's take a quick review of what the club has done:

IN

Jorginho (24, central midfield) - €5 million co-ownership from Hellas Verona

Henrique Buss (27, central defense) - €4 million from Palmeiras (Brazil)

Faouzi Ghoulam (23, left back) - €5 million from Saint-Etienne (France)

Mariano Andujar (30, goalkeeper) - undisclosed fee from Catania (joins in the summer)

OUT

Paolo Cannavaro (32, central defense) - Loan to Sassuolo

Pablo Armero (27, left back/left midfield) - Loan to West Ham (England)

Eduardo Vargas (24, striker/winger) - Loan to Valencia (Spain)

Antonio Rosati (30, goalkeeper) - Loan to Fiorentina

Bruno Uvini (22, central defense) - Loan to Livorno

So, a fairly busy transfer period. No actual sales, but at least four of the loaned-out players are probably done for good at the San Paolo. Jorginho has already made a marked impact on the side, Henrique should provide depth in defense, and Ghoulam ought to quickly be given a shot to make the left back position his own.

We've already profiled Jorginho for those unfamiliar with him, and tomorrow we'll be doing the same with Henrique and Ghoulam. And of course there's the small matter of a match against Atalanta on Sunday. No rest for the wicked, eh?
