Leicester City not deterred in pursuit of Gokhan Inler transfer

Last week, English side Leicester City made a try at signing Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler, but were rebuffed by the Swiss international. Despite being fairly obviously on the outs in Napoli, Inler has now rejected two different moves away from the club, apparently wanting to instead pick his own destination.

Leicester aren't to be deterred, though --apparently they've made a new approach based on the same bid of €4 million plus bonuses that Napoli apparently accepted last week, one that's been characterized as "important," and that they feel Inler might accept.

The Foxes are looking to replace Italian stalwart Esteban Cambiasso, who played a huge part in keeping Leicester in the Premier League last season before departing when his contract expired this summer. While not exactly the same kind of midfielder Cambiasso is, with Leicester also breaking in a new manager in Claudio Ranieri, Inler can likely still play a big role for a team in arguably the world's biggest league.

But again, Inler already rejected Leicester once. Unless they pony up a larger chunk of that TV money for his wages, he'll probably reject them again. He's seemed bent on a move to Turkey -- the country of his parents' birth, though he was born in Switzerland -- or to Fiorentina, but either move has been slow to develop into anything significant.

This is a potential move worth monitoring, but one that still has a long ways to go before it can be considered done. The odds seem low that it'll happen, considering that Inler's already said no once, but it's still completely possible. Leicester have some healthy resources to throw around, and heck, if Watford eventually got Miguel Britos to say yes, Leicester can get Inler to give a thumbs-up.
