Napoli vs. Chievo Verona: Lineups, team news and discussion

Lorenzo Insigne gets the nod for Napoli's first home game of the season, despite supporters turning against him recently. Can he deliver against Chievo?

Giuseppe Bellini

Today brings the first Napoli home game of the 2014-2015 Serie A season. Chievo come to the San Paolo, no doubt hoping to equal or better the 1-1 result they managed the last time they visited Naples.

If the Flying Donkeys are unable to produce anything better than what they showed against Juventus last week, Napoli should have no trouble coming away with all three points -- even if they fail to improve upon what was a rather weak performance against Genoa. However, Chievo love to be a thorn in the Napoli side, and it's likely we'll see a bit better from them this time around.

That means the hosts are going to need to improve. And they may need to do it in an environment that's a bit hostile, as fans haven't exactly been showing this Napoli side a lot of love recently. If things go poorly early on, the atmosphere at the San Paolo could get a bit ugly.

Rafa Benítez doesn't seem concerned, however. Lorenzo Insigne remains in the starting lineup, despite being the recent target of the fans' ire. Now, more than ever, the hometown boy must deliver. So, too, must captain Marek Hamšík, as some feel as though it's been decades since he was last in form.
