Rafa Benitez has announced the 19-man squad for Napoli's trip to Trabzonspor on Thursday, and -- whew -- Marek Hamšík is on the list. After being subbed off with a thigh injury in Saturday's game-that-shall-never-be-mentioned again, the Napoli captain trained alone yesterday, and it was questionable whether he'd be making the trip to Turkey.
It's likely Hamšík will be limited to a supporting role in the Europa League match, and that's fine. Quite honestly, this leg might be more about damage limitation than anything else. The team is likely feeling a little battered after the game-that-shall-never-be-mentioned again, and with a potentially-dangerous Sassuolo up next, it may be best to preserve the squad's strength. Trabzonspor aren't having the best season, but it's still could be difficult for Napoli to grab a win on their home turf.
