The second half of the season is here, and Napoli are getting underway by hosting Genoa at the Stadio San Paolo. Napoli won their first encounter 2-1 with a last-minute goal from Jonathan De Guzman; can they make round two a less dramatic and much easier affair?
Speaking of De Guzman, he's getting the nod in the starting lineup today, with Dries Mertens and Manolo Gabbiadini headed to the bench after their roles in the 120 minute Coppa Italia match last week. Of potentially more surprise, though, is that Gokhan Inler is in the starting lineup, despite the strong performance that Jorginho put in against Udinese in that Coppa match. Many assumed the Brazilian would finally reprise his midfield role in the league, but instead it's the seemingly out-of-favor Swiss getting the nod.
For Genoa.... well, there's no major surprises. The shape and personnel were exactly as expected, so... let's just carry on to the match, eh?
Napoli: Rafael; Maggio, Albiol, Koulibaly, Strinic; Lopez, Inler; De Guzman, Hamsik, Callejon; Higuain
Genoa: Perin; Roncaglia, Burdisso, De Maio; Edenilson, Rincon, Bertolacci, Antonelli; Falque, Fetfatzidis; Perotti
