Napoli had just gone down a goal to Juventus thanks to a bad defensive error on a corner kick sequence, and needed to respond quickly. Fortunately, Jose Callejon was on the case, as he’s been so many times this year.

It was a trademark run and simple finish from the Spanish winger, who is really starting to become the team’s go-to man when they need a clutch goal this season. It was his seventh goal of the season, and so many of them have been crucial to Napoli’s results.
The goal is one that Napoli had been trying for all match long — that far post chip over the defense with a timed run to set the winger free. Callejon had actually gotten the ball in the back of the net off a similar sequence in the first half, but his delightful finish to scuff it over Gianluigi Buffon was wasted by a very correct offsides call. Juventus had responded well to the play otherwise, doing well to keep Callejon or Lorenzo Insigne from getting on the ball when they made the run.
This time, though, Callejon caught Juventus’ defense looking at the ball and not checking him, slipping through two defenders with ease to get to a lovely ball over the top from Insigne. It was well executed, and the perfect response to going down the way Napoli did.
Now let’s score another goal. Or four.
