While Juventus have run away with Serie A once again, the race for the two other Champions League spots are still up for grabs. At the moment, Lazio and Roma hold the two remaining Champions League spots and are currently ahead of fourth place Napoli by eight points. But the Azzurri are looking to shorten the gap as they face the in relegation Cagliari.
The game is very important for both teams as they both look to look past some tough stretches. Napoli snapped a five game winless streak with a convincing 3-0 win over Fiorentina. Cagliari are coming in on a five game winless streak and will look to try to stay alive in Serie A.
But even though they are the better team, it will be fatigue that will be against the Napoli side in this game. Napoli will have played a tough first leg against Wolfsburg in the Europa League just three days prior and fatigue will certainly be a factor. In Napoli's last three European games, they have not won the following Serie A game after playing in that European game. So fatigue will certainly be something to look for in this game.
It will also be interesting to see if Napoli rest a few key players in this game. While they are still in the fight for 3rd place, Napoli have a very legitimate shot at winning the Europa league. It will be interesting to see if Rafa Benitez rests players like Higuain to save for Wolfsburg who they will play in the 2nd leg just four days after playing Cagliari.
Consistency has not been in Napoli's strength this season but even if they rest some key players, the Azzurri should be favorites in this match.
