It appears that just a day after rumors sprung that Napoli were considering signing Sampdoria defender Vasco Regini, a deal has already been struck. Reports indicate that Napoli and Sampdoria have agreed to terms on a loan with an option to buy for the versatile Italian, and Radio Kiss Kiss has already confirmed that he is in Naples to have his medical.

Regini, who turned 25 earlier this season, has made 14 Serie A appearances this season, mostly as a left back. He's spent more time in central defense this season, though, and will likely spend most of his time there in Naples. He's a good backup option for Napoli, giving them the left-footed man in the middle they've lacked this season and diversifying Napoli's options off the bench. He has experience with Maurizio Sarri as well, having spent a year on loan under him at Empoli in Serie B earlier in his career.

Assuming he passes his medical, Regini will spend the rest of the season on loan with Napoli, who will then have the option to purchase him outright at the end of the campaign. The exact amount of the purchase option is unknown, but is believed to be under €2 million. That's not bad business to get a solid backup with plenty of experience into a defense that needs exactly that.

An announcement of Regini's move being finalized is expected to come later on Friday. Once that or any other updates emerge, we'll bring it to you ASAP.
