The new Coppa Italia format for the 2021-2022 edition did not sit well with football fans and even other clubs.
The Lega Pro/Serie C president called it elitist; Venezia chimed in on social media, posting "Amazingly tone-deaf."
The new format will take only 40 teams from Serie A and Serie B, leaving third and fourth-division teams out, unlike before where 78 teams comprised the competition.
