Ah yes, league football. Remember that? The thing that happened before the international break. The thing before the transfer window slammed shut. The thing that, really, we most care about. (Okay, perhaps you care about the Champions League more, but I am natively an Aston Villa fan so I have literally no idea what that would be like.)
We’re back with Serie A action, though! And after a nearly flawless start to their season (do we count two goals allowed as flaws?) Napoli get to visit last year’s 15th-placed finishers Bologna.
The Greyhounds have not had quite the start to their season that Napoli have had. In their first two league matches, they have a draw against Torino and a win in their visit to Benevento. Before all of that, though, they suffered a pretty humiliating 0-3 home loss to Serie B side Cittadella in the Coppa Italia. Woof.
But they’re not all bad! Simone Verdi looks to lead a talented (if young and inconsistent) attack and could prove to be a consistent threat throughout the season. The midfield, too, was bolstered by summer signings, including former Milan player Andrea Poli.
Nevertheless, it’d be a pretty big surprise if they could manage to derail Napoli’s early season form. Perhaps the biggest danger is looking past this match to bigger things to come. Avoid that and Napoli should have an easy result.
