Napoli vs. Atalanta, Serie A 2017: Confirmed lineups, team news, and viewing party

It’s time to beat the bogey team.

Napoli and Atalanta have a torrid and unfortunate recent history, with Napoli both matches to Atalanta last season and far too many points to them over the last five years. That’s not an acceptable trend, and it’s one that they must start to correct — and they need to start to correct it now.

It’s little secret that the partenopei have little to no room for error this season if they’re going to find the successes they want. That means that they cannot drop points to the teams that they should beat with regularity like they’ve done for years, and while Atalanta are a better team than they’re often given credit for, Napoli are still the better team and absolutely should beat them, especially at the San Paolo.

There’s no excuses. Napoli’s lineup is at full strength minus the suspended Elseid Hysaj, and they have significant firepower on the bench. Atalanta are, again, a good team, but not on Napoli’s level of quality. Napoli can win. They should win. They must win. And with another win tonight, they can go into the international break with tons of momentum and good feelings, and then come back out of it strong.

Lineups

Napoli: Reina; Maggio, Albiol, Koulibaly, Ghoulam; Zielinski, Jorginho, Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne

Atalanta: Berisha; Toloi, Palomino, Masiello; Hateboer, Freuler, Cristante, Gosens; Ilicic; Petagna, Gomez
