Napoli have started their match against Atletico Madrid to kick off the Audi Cup brightly, and not just because of the quality of their play. It’s also because they unveiled their new away kits from Kappa for the upcoming season, kits featuring a very bright shade of yellow.

It’s a strong contrast to the traditional blue home shirt and the dark blue third kits revealed over the course of the last month, and one that we’ll probably be seeing on a semi-regular basis this season. More traditionally a color worn by Napoli goalkeepers, we have periodically seen yellow shirts for the main squad, though it’s been several years since the last time it was used.
Hopefully the new shirt brings the club some good fortune over the coming season. The Napoli squad have made it look good against Atletico in the Audi Cup, and given that we’ll likely see it on a regular basis in European competition — hopefully in the Champions League — it had better give Napoli some good vibes to carry them through to some good times worth celebrating.
