Napoli must keep AC Milan in their rear-view mirror

Napoli face a crucial stretch of their schedule and need to start it with a bang against Milan.

Napoli are at a crucial crossroads in their season. They still sit atop Serie A, but after some rough form in the weeks leading up to the international break and a major injury to Faouzi Ghoulam, they come into their match against AC Milan needing a win in a bad way to get rolling in a crucial stretch of schedule.

Interestingly, both teams have very similar records of late — two wins, two draws, and one loss in all competitions. Napoli have arguably looked like the better team in that stretch, though what they’re going to look like without a crucial element in their team in the form of Faouzi Ghoulam.

Fortunately for Napoli, Maurizio Sarri is starting as strong a lineup as he can under the circumstances — the only change from the first-choice eleven is Mario Rui stepping in for the injured Ghoulam. He was less than inspiring against Chievo before the break, but hopefully more time on the pitch will see him bring out a better side of himself, though he’s going to be sorely tested by the in-form Suso.

Napoli: Reina; Hysja, Albiol, Koulibaly, Rui; Allan, Jorginho, Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne

Milan: Donnarumma; Musacchio, Bonucci, Romagnoli; Borini, Kessie, Montolivo, Bonaventura; Suso, Kalinic, Locatelli.
