It’s time! It’s time! Napoli are back in the Champions League, and we’re less than an hour from the start of their match against Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine, and oh god why am I so nervous.
Napoli’s lineup is as expected, with Allan, Dries Mertens, and Elseid Hysaj all returning to the lineup after being rested this weekend. There was some concern that Jose Callejon wouldn’t be fit to start, but he’s in the lineup to start as well, and hopefully we see more of the good form that he’s shown in his last two matches.
Dynamo’s lineup is mostly as expected as well, with the notable exception of starting teenage midfielder Viktor Tsyankov. The attacking midfielder was expected to be part of Dynamo’s UEFA Youth League match against Napoli this morning, but he was not in the squad for that 4-1 win. Instead he’s starting for the first team, an unexpected honor and a huge challenge for the 18 year old who has made just one first-team appearance this season.
