Napoli have officially named their 24-man squad for the Champions League group stage, bringing fans one step closer to the team’s return to Europe’s biggest stage, and setting the table for what could be a very exciting season.
The squad includes six of Napoli’s seven summer signings, leaving out only Lorenzo Tonelli, who is out for a still-unspecified amount of time with a knee injury suffered during pre-season. Otherwise, everyone is in the squad and available, including Marko Rog, who is allowed to play despite featuring for Dinamo Zagreb in qualifying because of a recent UEFA rule change.
Interestingly, Lorenzo Insigne’s little brother Roberto is also in the squad. The younger-but-taller Insigne impressed on loan last season, but that was in Serie B -- the Champions League is a big step up from there. He helps make up squad numbers thanks to UEFA’s home-grown rules and reportedly impressed Maurizio Sarri in training, however, so who knows what the 22 year old might do.
