Look, there’s a lot of fancy analytical things I could say here. Lorenzo Insigne needs to step up, Napoli can’t get intimidated by the setting, they need to win this or that key matchup, blah blah blah. But there’s just one truth about this match: Napoli have to win, but whatever means possible.
Besiktas beat them in Naples two weeks ago. That’s not OK. Sure, Napoli have been struggling and had reasons to not be at their best, but losing at home to a team that Napoli are, ostensibly, much better than is unacceptable. That makes getting their win back necessary not just for helping their standing in their Champions League group, but for helping restore their pride and, perhaps, help get their momentum moving in the right direction again.
And shoving it in Gokhan Inler’s face might be fun, too, after all the shots he took at the club after he left.
