Italy has been getting lashed with one heavy rain storm after another for over a month now, leading to flooding in parts of the country among a multitude of other problems in rain-soaked areas. Naples for the most part hasn't been as heavily affected, but this morning while Napoli were training the area around the Castel Volturno got pounded by heavy, soaking rains that left the training pitch as an absolute mess.
As they often do with midweek training sessions, Napoli wrapped things up with a short series of small field six-on-six matches. The idea of those matches is to implement a variety of tactical and technical drills in a game-like situation, but they're also a good way to let the squad cut loose and have some fun at the end of the day.
Of course, the rain made things rather interesting, with large puddles of standing water and the heavy rain making conditions challenging. A side made up of Rafael Cabral, Gokhan Inler, Duvan Zapata, Dries Mertens, Jonathan De Guzman, and Josip Radosevic were able to overcome those conditions, though, and their celebration proved to be quite memorable:
If that's not making the most out of less-than-ideal circumstances, I don't know what is.
