Lorenzo Insigne injured and it doesn't look pretty

No word yet on the Italian's injury, but he needed to be subbed off just 25 minutes into Napoli's match at Fiorentina.

With less than 25 minutes played between Napoli and Fiorentina, Josip Iličić slid into Lorenzo Insigne. It wasn't a bad tackle by any means, but when Insigne landed, he came down rather awkwardly on his ankle.

The pain was evident in his face. When Insigne tried to stand up, he could put barely any pressure on his right leg, and he immediately gestured toward the bench. After being helped to the sidelines, he was doused with enough magic spray to cause a hole in the ozone layer right above the Artemio Franchi, but nothing seemed to work.

Insigne had to come off in the 25th minute, nearly in tears. Dries Mertens replaced him, and although the Belgian has plenty of skill, Insigne would be hard to replace. The Italian has been tremendous in recent weeks, and had already been causing all sorts of trouble down the left side.

Speaking of Italy, should this injury be serious, Insigne will likely miss his chance with the national team next week. Which will also hurt the little guy, particularly as he's only just been called back after being dropped post-World Cup.

Insigne, right knee heavily bandaged, was carried along the sidelines to (presumably) get checked out. It's not looking good. We'll keep you posted.
