Mercato Madness: Napoli in for M'Vila?

With an ever more urgent need for backup in midfield, it's not surprising there's rumor that Napoli have contacted Rubin Kazan to discuss Yann M'Vila.

With news breaking yesterday that Valon Behrami will be out of action for at least a month, there's little surprise that the majority of today's rumors have focused on the possibility of bringing another defensive midfielder to Napoli. But one of the most intriguing might be the idea that Napoli have been in contact with Yann M'Vila.

The 23 year old Frenchman is currently plying his trade at Rubin Kazan, but really, who wants to stick around the Russian Premier League for long? It's cold there. After spending his formative years attracting attention at French side Rennes, the club's support turned on M'Vila, and he headed for the wilds of Kazan last January.

M'Vila is under contract with Rubin Kazan until 2017 and, despite the club having picked him up for around €11.5m, it seems it'll take at least €15m to pry him away. But Napoli have money, and the midfielder is likely worth the price. The partenopei need another solid player protecting the backline, so it makes sense to spend a little and get someone who's both quality and still a bit young.

But I don't watch a lot of Russian football. Do you? Are you an expert in how M'Vila has fared over the past year? If so, please, fill us in.
