Two more names have been added to the list of Napoli players called up for action during the upcoming international break. Raul Albiol has been tapped by Spain, and Dries Mertens has been included in the Belgium squad, as both sides prepare to play a pair of qualifying matches for the European Championship in 2016.
The callups bring the number of Napoli players to be involved in the international matches to eight, with another still likely to be added. Six other players were called up over the last two weeks, and the Switzerland squad that Gokhan Inler captains has yet to be named.
Albiol will be joining Spain as they play a pair of road matches in their Euro 2016 group. They'll be travelling to Slovakia and Luxemborg this trip, and Napoli fans will be eager to see how Marek Hamsik's side fares against La Roja. Both sides are currently tied on three points at the top of the group, and Slovakia will be eager to continue the magic they showed against Ukraine against Spain.
As for Belgium, Mertens will be helping his side in what should be a pair of winnable matches. They'll first face Andorra at home, then make the trek to Bosnia and Herzegovina for what could be a very tricky match. These will be Belgium's first matches of their qualifying campaign as they played two friendlies last month, rather than a friendly and a qualifier like most nations did. Mertens has been in phenomenal form for Belgium in recent months, including a stellar match against Australia in a friendly last month.
As usual, we hope Napoli's players do well during the international break... and don't come home injured. That's the last thing they or the squad needs right now.
