Antonio Rosati close to Fiorentina transfer, reminds Napoli fans he's a real person

Remember Antonio Rosati? Despite not having played for Napoli in a very long time, he's still part of the club. Or at least he will be until he completes a move to Fiorentina.

There's a fairly decent chance that you're looking at that headline and thinking "Who? Why do we care about this guy moving to Fiorentina?" Well, we care because he's a Napoli player, one that you very likely forgot even existed.

After hardly playing for Napoli for two years and spending last season on loan with Sassuolo and then Fiorentina, Rosati is, somehow, still kicking around the Castel Volturno, likely looking like a lost puppy and answering questions like "who are you and why are you here" five times a day. He hasn't played a single minute of football for Napoli in two years and hasn't even been in consideration for a matchday squad once this season, leaving him so far out in the cold that he's jealous of Josip Radosevic.

That will soon change; Fiorentina are in desperate need of goalkeeping depth after they kicked Neto to the curb following his announcement that he will leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires. Ciprian Tatarusanu was less than impressive against Parma earlier this week and the club lack a backup for him with any first-team experience, so with Rosati out of favor and familiar with the club already, the 31 year old is a perfect fit for their needs.

Various reports in the Italian media suggests that a deal is already all but done and could be wrapped up and announced as soon as Saturday. It's unlikely that Napoli will get much for Rosati outside of a few bags of balls since his contract is up at the end of the season, but anything is better than the black hole of value he currently represents.

Have fun in Florence, Antonio. We'll, uh... well, we probably won't miss you. We'll probably forget you again in a month. Sorry about that.
