There's quite a funny rumor making the rounds. It seems the agent of James Rodríguez has spoken with Aurelio De Laurentiis, and alleges that Napoli are "interested" in signing his client.
Well, yeah. I'm interested in performing a little dance with James, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen, does it?
Just last summer, James moved from Porto to Monaco for €45m. €45m! There's no way he's not commanding a much larger fee after the performances he's given at the World Cup, and that's just four games into the tournament. The 22-year-old has been the driving force behind Colombia's progress, making everyone forget the name "Radamel Falcao." He's already scored five goals, leaving plenty of jaws dropped in his wake. His first against Uruguay was particularly stunning: James chested the ball down and, turning, volleyed in with his left foot, sending the shot off the bottom of the crossbar and into the back of the net.
So this guy is definitely coming to Napoli. With the money from selling Gonzalo Higuaín to Barcelona, perhaps? Let's face it: Monaco don't exactly need to sell the guy. So if they do, it's probably going to be for a sum of something like €80m. That's not a price Napoli are going to pay.
No matter how much of a "great person" James' agent believes ADL to be.
