Brazil manager Felipe Scolari has just announced the squad he intends to use to win the World Cup this summer, and there's a surprising name in the mix.
Among the expected list is Neymar, Oscar, Willian, Hulk, Dani Alves, David Luiz, and... wait... is that... yes, it is!
Napoli's own Henrique Buss has been named to Scolari's 23-man squad, presumably as a flexible defensive option off the bench. Henrique is naturally a center back, but has gotten several starts at right back while Christian Maggio has been out and performed well in the role. He also has appeared in defensive midfield a couple of times as a substitute, though it's unlikely Scolari will need him there given the depth his squad has at the position.
Henrique has been kind of a mixed bag since arriving in Naples this January. I was a pretty vocal doubter of the move when it first went down, but he's certainly exceeded my expectations of late with his play at right back (a poor showing in the Coppa final aside). Best of luck to him, and hopefully he can do Napoli proud with his play in Brazil. Just don't break any of your teammates while you're there, please.
