With the roster cutdown deadline looming for World Cup squads, Italy manager Cesare Prandelli will only get one match, with his side taking on the Republic of Ireland at Craven Cottage in London, the home of recently relegated Fulham.
The big thing to watch for in this match is the involvement of Lorenzo Insigne. It's been rumored of late that despite his strong season and versatility to play across the front line, the striker is on the outside looking in for a place on the final 23-man roster. If he doesn't feature or barely does so, that's probably all she wrote. Hopefully Prandelli gives him a nice long look today and lets him have a shot to play his way in to the team.
Also of interest will be seeing how Christian Maggio looks. In his late season appearances, Maggio looked tired and slow, clearly not quite fully fit yet after his lung surgery in March. If he doesn't look sharp yet, his place could be at risk as well, with Ignazio Abate having a relatively strong close to the season with AC Milan.
Other Napoli players are in action for their countries today; Faouzi Ghoulam is currently playing for Algeria against Armenia, and Pablo Armero and Camilo Zuniga will be suiting up for Colombia later on at 11pm CET/5pm EST.
The match will start today at 8:45 PM CET/2:45 PM EST. Television coverage will be on RAI Uno in Italy, Premier Sports in the UK, and beIN Sports in America.
