Edinson Cavani scoring wonderful goals isn't going to help Napoli keep ahold of their prolific striker, but it certainly helps Uruguay keep their Brazilian dreams alive. On Tuesday night, El Matador scored the only goal in Uruguay's World Cup qualifier against Venezuela, latching on to a pass from former Napoli man Walter Gargano. Cavani took the ball past two defenders before sending in a low, left-footed strike:
The win puts Uruguay in fifth place in CONMEBOL World Cup qualification, even with Venezuela and five points behind Chile -- although La Celeste have a game in hand on each of those sides. In South America, the top four teams qualify directly for the World Cup, while team five goes to a playoff against the fifth-placed team from Asia.
Of course, the better Edi does during qualification, the higher his price will be -- but at the same time, the greater the likelihood of losing Napoli's star.
