As expected, Napoli have signed Palmeiras central defender Henrique. Word just came down from the club via twitter confirming the transaction:
#SSCNapoli ufficializza l'acquisto a titolo definitivo di @henriqueabuss dal Palmeiras con un contratto fino al 30 giugno 2017
— Official SSC Napoli (@sscnapoli) January 30, 2014
Henrique is believed to have cost €4 million to acquire, and Napoli have signed him to a four-year contract. That suggests they see him as more than a short-term stopgap measure in defense, which... yeah.
The move also puts the club at the limit for non-EU signings for the season, so they must be very confident in their ability to pry Etienne Capoue from Tottenham if they've given up on the couple of Brazilian midfielders they've been tenuously linked with of late.
We'll have more on Henrique and any other signings to come on Saturday, so stay tuned for that and coverage of all the chaos of the transfer deadline.
