Napoli have already announced one deadline day signing, but reports indicate they're on the verge of another. According to several reports in Italy, Napoli and Vicenza have agreed to terms on a transfer for striker Filip Raičević, a 22 year old Montenegran who's been lighting Serie B on fire this season.
The deal is a few signatures and one last detail away from being announced, that detail being where he spends the rest of the season. Napoli are trying to work another loan to Carpi to get Raičević's feet wet in Serie A, which would make him their third player sent to Carpi in the last week -- that's threatening to become a full-blown partnership. If Carpi decide not to take Raičević on loan, he'll remain with Vicenza for the rest of the season.
Raičević, 22, has scored 10 goals in 19 Serie B matches this season and looks like a solid prospect. Tall, lithe, and athletic, Raičević also has excellent instincts in front of goal and a good finishing touch. He's probably not going to be a huge star in Serie A, but he does have all the makings of a solidly above-average player with the potential for more if things break right.
Oh, and to make this signing all the sweeter, Napoli beat Juventus to his signature. Any time they can swipe away a player Juve wants is a good day in my book.
